Salinas de la Concepción – A look at sustainability in Menorca.
In today’s post, Rebecca Morris, Director of Menorca Preservation, will share firsthand her perspective on the reconstruction of Salinas de la Concepción – the Salt of Menorca
This afternoon, we were lucky to visit Salinas de la Concepción now fully operational. It has been a wonderful experience.
I came two years ago, before the project even started, and they explained a bit about what they intended to achieve. Honestly, at that time, it already seemed incredible to me, but I don’t think I truly understood the impact and the different dimensions involved in making it work and stay active. And now, being able to understand how the Salinas will operate. But also, the impact it has on the environment and all the work that has been done to consider that contribution to the environment, not only to increase biodiversity, protect species, and create a wonderful space for migratory birds. In the end, the sum of all this is what we at Menorca Preservation always believe is necessary: these holistic collaborations to address so many different issues.
And indeed, to establish that balance between human activity and the environment. I think this is a perfect example of how we can achieve it.
