PRESERVATION OF NATURE

The La Concepción salt flats are a nature reserve, inhabited by a great variety of plants and birds.

Several plant species, such as salicornia, socarrell and seagrass, have adapted to the harsh combination of wind, high salinity, rocky areas and wetlands.

The salt flats also provide a perfect habitat for endemic birds and a safe wintering area for herons, flamingos, great cormorants and several species of ducks.
